The Power of Resilience For a Mumpreneur

The Story of Tammy Adcock’s Triumph Against  Personal Challenges

Balancing motherhood and entrepreneurship is no easy feat, especially when doing it all alone. As a mom of three little ones and a business owner, I know firsthand the struggles and triumphs that come with this journey.

This is why I started the R.E.A.L. MOMS podcast, a platform where professional mums in Nebraska can come together to share their stories, support each other, and find strength in our shared experiences.

On the latest episode, I was thrilled to share the inspiring story of Tammy Adcock, a high-conflict divorce coach who has turned her pain into a powerful mission to help others.

The Challenges of Being a Mumpreneur

Running a business while raising children is a juggling act that requires immense resilience. Many of us feel isolated, overwhelmed, and constantly pulled in different directions.

Tammy’s story resonated deeply with me because she has faced these challenges head-on and emerged stronger.

As a high-conflict divorce coach, she helps others navigate the turbulent waters of divorce and custody battles, offering them the support she once desperately needed.

Tammy's Journey Through High-Conflict Divorce

Tammy’s journey began with her own high-conflict divorce and custody case. She shared with me the emotional and legal challenges she faced, including the manipulation and alienation orchestrated by her ex-husband.

The court system, which often fails to understand the intricacies of high-conflict cases, added to her struggles.

For example, legal proceedings and services in California differ from those in Nebraska, and navigating these complexities can be daunting without proper support.

Despite these obstacles, Tammy found a way to persevere. She emphasized the importance of documenting everything and maintaining clear communication.

These steps are crucial for anyone going through a similar situation. Tammy initially lacked the support she needed, but she found solace and strength in online communities like One Mom’s Battle.

These groups provided her with the empathy and understanding she craved, helping her realize she wasn’t alone.

Finding Strength and Purpose

One of the most poignant moments in our conversation was when Tammy described the loss of identity many women experience in abusive relationships.

Narcissistic partners often target empathetic individuals, tearing them down until they no longer recognize themselves.

This resonated deeply with me, as I’ve seen this happen to others and, in some ways, experienced it myself.

The journey to rediscover oneself is long and challenging, but it’s possible with the right support and determination.

Tammy’s journey to find herself again involved going back to school and earning her master’s degree in business management while caring for her young children.

This education equipped her with the tools she needed to build a new life for herself and her kids.

It also laid the foundation for her coaching business, where she now helps others navigate their own high-conflict divorces.

Building a Support System

Creating a support system is crucial for any mumpreneur. That’s why I started a community of mompreneurs here in Nebraska.

We meet every other week, about 15 to 20 of us, to share our experiences and support each other.

This community has become a lifeline for many of us, offering a safe space to vent, seek advice, and celebrate our successes.

I’m also working on expanding this community virtually, to reach even more moms who need this support.

For mumpreneurs in the real estate industry, ICONS of Real Estate has a great support and coaching program. They train and provide real estate professionals with tools to take their career or business to the next level.

Tammy’s involvement in her community is equally inspiring. She volunteers and advocates for domestic violence survivors, helping with events like “Stuff the Bus” for local shelters.

Her dedication to giving back is a reminder that we can find healing and purpose in serving others. It’s a journey of continuous self-discovery and growth, one that requires compassion and empathy.

Overcoming the Impact of Narcissistic Relationships

Tammy’s story also highlights the impact of narcissistic relationships. She discussed how narcissists manipulate and control their partners, often leaving them feeling guilty and ashamed.

It’s only when you step away from these relationships that you realize the extent of the control and manipulation.

Tammy’s experiences have heightened her empathy and her ability to recognize and support those in need.

She often approaches women she suspects are in abusive situations, offering help and resources.

Ongoing Journey and Advocacy

Recovery and self-discovery are ongoing journeys. Tammy admits that she’s still on her journey, still finding herself.

This honesty is refreshing and relatable. Success is not a destination but a continuous journey.

We must constantly seek ways to improve ourselves, serve others, and find fulfillment in our lives.

At the end of our podcast, I asked Tammy what advice she would give to others in similar situations. Her response was heartfelt and powerful.

She emphasized the importance of self-care, seeking help, and building a supportive network. She reminded us that we are stronger than we think and that it’s okay to ask for help.

Listen to The R.E.A.L. MOMS Podcast

Listening to Tammy’s story and reflecting on my own journey, I am reminded of the incredible strength and resilience we possess as mums and entrepreneurs.

It’s not an easy path, but it’s one filled with growth, learning, and the potential to make a significant impact.

As I continue to build the community and share these stories on my entrepreneurship podcast in Nebraska, I am more convinced than ever of the importance of support, empathy, and resilience. We are not alone in our struggles, and together, we can overcome any challenge.

Let’s continue to support and uplift each other, finding strength in our shared experiences and the power of resilience.
